Ms Jihène El-Kafsi

MA (cantab) FRCS

Ms El Kafsi is a Consultant Upper GI Bariatric Surgeon at registered with BUPA, and is available to see patients with a variety of conditions including obesity, gallstones, acid reflux, and hernias.

Ms El Kafsi undertook her surgical training in Oxford, having qualified from Cambridge University and UCL. She completed two post-CCT fellowships in Upper GI and weight loss surgery at UCLH and New Zealand.

Ms El Kafsi has a specialist interest in weight loss surgery and has performed over 300 gastric bypasses and sleeve gastrectomies since CCT (currently NHS only). She became a consultant in bariatric surgery at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust in 2020.

Ms El Kafsi also has a specialist interest in hiatal hernia surgery, reflux surgery including LINX reflux Management System and achalasia surgery. She was appointed to Frimley Health NHS FT in 2019 and has since set up a GI Physiology service in Heatherwood Hospital (Ascot) to investigate reflux and oesophageal motility conditions. She also performs the Bravo procedure.

She sits on various Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh committees, as well as Upper GI associations (AUGIS/BBUGSS) Councils with an interest in education. She has organised, directed and delivered webinars, courses, conferences and talks on UGI and weight loss surgery nationally.
